Strengths available:

Medium Soft  (MS) - An intermediate reed which is less resistant and best suited for a player with moderate experience.

"Pro" - A reed made with the professional in mind who has a fully developed embouchure.

English horn and oboe D'Amore reeds - are available in "Pro" strengths and prices only.

 Reeds are handmade to order for all oboists ranging from the professional to the beginning band student. Because of this there are many options in reed strengths available when ordering your reeds.

Marsha Taylor has been making reeds professionally for over twenty five years. These reeds reflect her studies with Allan Vogel at California Institute of the Arts.

Kestrel reeds are made from hand-selected tube cane from the Var District in France; gouged on an R.D.G. gouger and shaped on a Pfeiffer-Mack extended shaper unless otherwise specified by the customer. The overall length is 71mm. The reed scrape itself reflects the traditional American "W" with subtle "windows" in the back which taper to the tip. The reeds are "wet & dried", tested and tuned for one week before shipment. They are warranted against cracking during shipment for replacement.

The same quality of cane is used for all the grades of  reeds. The differences are how they are finished. The three grades are  medium soft and pro (MS,pro).
